LaneParty

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about LaneParty.

How does scoring work?

LaneParty handles per-frame scoring for you. Tap the pins you knocked down each ball and the app calculates running totals, marks strikes and spares, and tracks your game in real time. You can use Fast Entry (just enter pin counts) or Pin Detail mode (tap individual pins on a diagram).

What bowling formats are supported?

We support 10-pin, 5-pin, duckpin, candlepin, and 9-pin scoring. Each format follows its official rules for scoring, max score, and frame structure.

Is LaneParty free?

Core scoring is free forever — no ads, no paywalls on basic features. You can track scores, create groups, view your stats, and collect trading cards without paying anything. The Pro tier ($5-7/month) adds AI-powered features like scoresheet photo import and AI portraits.

What's the difference between free and Pro?

Free includes unlimited scoring, groups, leagues, achievements, trading cards, and full stat history. Pro adds AI Photo Score Import (snap a photo of a paper scoresheet and have it digitized), AI Portrait generation for your trading card, advanced analytics, and data export.

How do I create an account?

Sign up with your email address. You can use a password or magic-link sign-in (we email you a one-click login link). You must be 13 or older to create your own account.

What about my kids? Can they use LaneParty?

Yes! Kids under 13 can use LaneParty through a parent-managed profile. You create the profile from your own account, and you control what data is stored. Managed profiles don't need their own email or password. When your child turns 13, you can release the profile so they can claim it as their own account.

What's the difference between groups and leagues?

Groups are informal — a family, a group of friends, or a work team that bowls together. Anyone in the group can see shared sessions and stats. Leagues are structured competition with teams, weekly sessions, standings, and optional handicap scoring.

How do achievements and trading cards work?

Achievements unlock automatically as you bowl — your first strike, your first 200 game, a turkey, and many more. Trading cards are digital cards that show your stats and update after every game. You can collect cards from other bowlers by scanning their QR code.

Can I use LaneParty offline?

LaneParty is a Progressive Web App (PWA) and works offline for score entry. Your games are saved locally and sync to the cloud when you reconnect. Install the app to your home screen for the best experience.

Does LaneParty send push notifications?

Only if you opt in. You can enable notifications for things like group invites, league reminders, and achievement unlocks. You can turn them off anytime in your profile settings.

How does LaneParty handle my privacy?

We collect only what we need to run the app. We don't sell your data, we don't serve ads, and we don't share your information with data brokers. You can export or delete your data anytime. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.

Is my data secure?

Yes. All data is encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.3). Every database table uses Row Level Security so you can only access your own data. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. We never store them in plain text.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, anytime. Go to your profile settings and choose "Delete account." Your data is removed within 30 days. Backups are purged within 60 days.

What's the anti-cheat system?

LaneParty uses a trust-tier system. Self-reported scores start as unverified. Scores recorded at verified venues with lane-sync integration get higher trust. Official leaderboard rankings only count scores from verified sources. This keeps competition fair without adding friction for casual bowlers.

I'm a venue owner. Can I partner with LaneParty?

Absolutely. We offer free venue listings and paid tiers with promotions, analytics, and event management. Email venues@laneparty.com or visit our Venues page to learn more.

How do I report a bug or get help?

Use the in-app feedback option in your profile menu, or email hello@laneparty.com. During beta, you can also submit feedback through the post-game surveys.
